In 2014, two longtime friends founded EcoCycle LLC with a truck, trailer, and a dream. The partnership established out of a shared concern for the Memphis water supply truly exemplifies the power of collaboration and dedication towards a common goal. Recognizing the need to divert waste from landfills to avoid contamination of sand aquifers, these individuals saw the potential for positive change through their actions and started the company to recycle various waste streams. Understanding that recycling was a vital aspect of environmental conservation and resource management, these dedicated individuals embarked on a mission to collect recyclables directly from households.
With determination and perseverance, they pulled a 16' trailer on the back of a Chevy Tahoe, collecting residential recyclables door-to-door in the early hours of the morning, day after day, for years on end. The challenges they faced along the way were immense, and the physical and mental strain of their labor would have deterred many. However, their unwavering commitment led them to purchase a box truck to collect more volume.
They quickly realized that collecting the material was only one part of the solution and that they needed a warehouse to process the recyclables, which was mostly cardboard at the time. In 2018 they raised capital to purchase recycling equipment and a facility located at 1054 Kansas Street in Memphis, Tennessee.
In 2019 the company diversified its commodity recovery and started taking plastic, paper, metal, dry food waste, and wood waste. Moreover, they needed to increase their inbound commodity supply, so they marketed their services to large public and private organizations. Nestled on seven acres of land, EcoCycle LLC boasts multiple buildings and a massive fleet of trucks that transport vast amounts of recyclables to and from the site each day. What set this operation apart, however, not its impressive infrastructure or cutting-edge machinery used to process discarded goods into valuable commodities. Instead, it was the profound partnership formed out of a shared concern for Memphis' precious water supply.
Their tireless efforts not only garnered support from the community but also inspired a wave of change towards sustainable practices. By diverting materials away from landfills and towards recycling they actively contributed to the preservation of the sand aquifers and the overall quality of Memphis' water supply.
Through collaboration, hard work, and a shared sense of purpose, this partnership at EcoCycle LLC proved that individual actions, when fueled by passion and dedication, could have a profound impact on the world around them. Their story serves as a shining example of how a small group of committed individuals can truly make a difference and leave a lasting legacy for future generations to cherish.
With over 25 years of combined professional experience, EcoCycle LLC is more than qualified and equally committed to helping firms and communities recycle. Our mission is to help enterprises and organizations effectively reduce their environmental impact and improve their waste stream management systems. We strive to eliminate the pollution of our environment and obtain a 100% percent diversion rate from the landfills. Our operations are based solely on this principle and we continuously aim to innovate ways to divert scrap material of any kind from improper disposition to the landfills.
Our recycling professionals have a “circular economy” mindset and the concept of funneling discarded materials back into the manufacturing process is the foundation. So, instead of mining for new resources, we promote the use and reuse of materials within a closed loop of innovation. There is no single model for a successful recycling program, but our mission is to make recycling convenient, reliable, and hassle free.
Our focus market at EcoCycle LLC is southeast; however, we have strategic partnerships around the country that allows us to service firms all over the United States. Geographically enabled industry alliances mean more of your materials get recycled!
